ZoomFuel — Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 23, 2026  |  Last Updated: July 12, 2026

ZoomFuel is designed with your privacy in mind. By default, all personal vehicle and fuel data is stored locally on your device only. If you choose to create an account and enable Cloud Sync, a copy of your data is also stored on our server so it can sync across your devices — see Section 3 for details.

📋 1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how ZoomFuel ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use the application on Android. By using ZoomFuel, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

ZoomFuel is a fuel and EV charging cost tracker for personal vehicles. It is developed and maintained by an independent developer.

📦 2. Data Collected & Storage

ZoomFuel stores the following data in a local SQLite database on your device. This data stays on your device only unless you sign in and turn on Cloud Sync, in which case it is also uploaded to our server as described in Section 3.

Category Data Storage
Vehicle info Vehicle name, brand, license plate, vehicle type (Gas / Electric / REEV) Local only
Fuel / charge records Date, fuel type, amount (liters / kWh), unit price, total cost, odometer, distance, station name, notes Local only
Custom fuel types User-defined fuel type names and EV flag Local only
App settings Theme (dark/light), language, currency, distance unit, accent color Local only
Translation cache Translated UI strings cached in SQLite to reduce repeated API calls Local only
No account or login required. ZoomFuel works fully offline without creating an account. If you sign in and enable Cloud Sync, the categories above are also uploaded to our server so they can sync across your devices — see Section 3.

☁️ 3. Account & Cloud Sync (Optional)

ZoomFuel offers an optional account and Cloud Sync feature so your data can follow you across devices (for example, phone and tablet). This feature is off by default — the app works fully offline until you choose to sign up.

Data Purpose Storage
Email address, password Create and sign in to your account Server — password is never stored in plain text; we store a salted PBKDF2 hash only
Access & refresh tokens Keep you signed in without re-entering your password Server + on-device secure storage
Vehicles, fuel/charge records, maintenance records, reminders, custom fuel types, stations, and app settings Sync your data across your signed-in devices; also kept as a safety copy on our server Server (only while Cloud Sync is enabled)

Our server (ZoomFuel.Api) runs over HTTPS and stores this data in a database we operate. Only your own signed-in account can read or write your synced data — the server identifies you from your login session and never lets one account access another account's data.

You can stop syncing at any time by signing out in the app. To permanently delete your account and server-side data, contact us at the email in Section 11 — we don't yet have a self-service "delete account" button in the app.

🌐 4. Third-Party Services

ZoomFuel connects to external services for specific features. Each service operates under its own privacy policy.

Service Purpose Data Sent
Google AdMob
ads.google.com
Display banner and native ads within the app Device identifiers, IP address, ad interaction data (managed by Google). See Google Privacy Policy.
Open-Meteo
open-meteo.com
Show current weather / temperature on the Dashboard Your device's GPS coordinates (latitude & longitude) at the time of request. Open-Meteo is a privacy-friendly, non-commercial weather API. See Open-Meteo Terms.
MyMemory Translation API
mymemory.translated.net
Translate app UI text when a language other than English or Thai is selected The text string to be translated and the target language code. No personal or vehicle data is sent. See MyMemory Privacy Policy.

🔐 5. Device Permissions

Permission When Used Required?
Location (Coarse / Fine) Fetching local weather on the Dashboard. Only requested when you open the Dashboard and weather is displayed. Optional — app works without it
Internet Loading advertisements (AdMob), fetching weather data, and translating UI text. Required for ads & online features

You can deny location permission at any time via Android Settings. The Dashboard will still work; weather information will simply not be shown.

📢 6. Advertising (Google AdMob)

ZoomFuel uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google may use cookies, device identifiers (including Android Advertising ID), and usage data to serve personalized ads based on your interests.

You can opt out of personalized advertising:

👶 7. Children's Privacy

ZoomFuel is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe your child has used the app and you have concerns, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

🔒 8. Data Security

All vehicle and fuel records are stored in a local SQLite database on your device, protected by Android's application sandbox. If you have not enabled Cloud Sync, no one — including the developer — can access your data remotely.

If you enable Cloud Sync, your synced data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on our server. Passwords are never stored in plain text (salted PBKDF2 hashing), and sign-in uses short-lived access tokens with rotating refresh tokens rather than repeatedly sending your password.

We recommend keeping your device updated and using screen lock to protect your data in case of device loss.

🗑️ 9. Data & Account Deletion

You can delete your locally stored app data at any time by:

If you have used Cloud Sync, uninstalling the app does not delete data already synced to our server. You can:

📝 10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
